Classic Trojan Albums To See Reissue

Two of Trojan’s popular LPs of all time are to see re-issue on CD this spring, launching a new series aimed at highlighting some of the most important album’s in the Trojan catalogue.

Bob & Marcia’s best-selling ‘Young Gifted & Black’ features a dozen of the duo’s most popular works, including the seminal title track, Marcia’s much-loved interpretation of ‘Put A Little Love In Your Heart’ and Bob’s own ‘Peace Of Mind’. First released by Trojan in 1970, the collection was produced by Harry ‘J’ Johnson, who also oversaw the other title in the series, ‘Liquidator’ by the eponymously named Harry J All Stars. Comprising some of Jamaica’s leading session players from the time, the All Stars’ pedigree is reflected in the high quality of the instrumental works on the set, which of course include the ever-green title track, which remains popular at a number of football grounds to this day. A firm favourite among the UK’s skinhead population following its original issue late in 1969, the LP sold by the thousand, only failing to make the national chart because of the peculiarities of recording sales of Reggae LPs in Britain at the time.

Available from 29th March, both ‘Young, Gifted & Black’ and ‘Liquidator’ are presented as originally intended, with the original classic album sleeves faithfully reproduced, albeit for a CD format – the first time either collection has ever seen re-release in this way.
