Dave & Ansel Collins & Desmond Dekker LPs To Be Reissued

Dave & Ansel Collins & Desmond Dekker LPs To Be ReissuedThe next two releases in the new range of classic album re-issues have just been announced.

The first is to be Desmond Dekker & The Aces’ classic Rock Steady set ‘007 Shanty Town’, which first saw issue on Doctor Bird shortly after the title track stormed the UK Pop charts in 1967. The album features the group’s finest work for Leslie Kong’s Beverley’s label from the period and sees issue for the first time in its original form, with artwork and mastering faithfully restored to suit the CD format.

The same is true of the second collection, ‘Double Barrel’ by Dave & Ansel Collins – a best-seller for Trojan back in 1971. Featuring an array of vocal and instrumental sides from Winston Riley’s famed Techniques stable, the set only missed out making the national charts due to the peculiarities of Reggae sales in the UK at the time.

The release date for both titles has yet to be confirmed.

Finally, we would like to extend our thanks to all those who kindly supplied images for the releases, namely Chris Silles & the Bush Doctor, Kevin & Stephen Nye, John Paley, Peter Roth, Gary Cookes, Philippe Terral and Dave Barham, all of who kindly contributed high quality scans of sleeves and labels, so ensuing the releases both look and sound great!
