A Trio Of Classic Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry Albums
To celebrate Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry‘s 80th birthday this year, 21st October saw the release of three of his most popular albums from the early-to-mid seventies.
As with other LPs in the ‘Original Trojan Classics’ range, the LPs are available from both the Trojan shop and Pledge Music, and have been mastered from the original tapes, pressed on high quality 180 gm vinyl and presented in laminated sleeves that fathfully reproduce the original 1970s artwork.

Junior Byles ‘Beat Down Babylon’ – TBL-1016
First issued in 1972, Junior Byles‘ influential roots classic, which comprises the famed singer’s early solo recordings from the previous two years, has since become a widely sought-after collector’s item, hailed by some as being Lee Perry‘s finest work prior to the opening of his Black Ark studio late the following year.
Despite its enviable reputation, the LP has been unavailable on vinyl since its original release, with this long overdue reissue sure to delight fans of Perry, early roots and one of Jamaica’s most gifted singer-songwriters.

Susan Cadogan ‘Susan Cadogan’ – TBL-1017
Susan Cadogan’s self-titled album first saw issue in Jamaica as ‘Sexy Suzie’ in 1975, but was subsequently repackaged by Trojan in the wake of her monster hit, ‘Hurt So Good’.
The LP promptly became one of the company’s best selling LPs and in so doing paved the way for the Lovers Rock revolution that followed soon after.
Despite this and the fact that today the album is widely regarded as one of the finest romantic reggae collections of all time, it has remained unavailable on vinyl since the 1980s. That oversight is now finally addressed with this deluxe re-issue!

Lee Perry ‘Revolution Dub’ – TBL-1018
Arguably the most exciting of this trio of LPs, ‘Revolution Dub’ first saw release in 1975 on Creole Records’ Cactus label.
Featuring a typically unpredictable selection of dub and vocal tracks that reflect Perry’s unique approach to music making, this essential collection is now widely regarded as one of his most significant long-players.
Hugely sought after on the collectors market, the long-overdue reissue faithfully reproduces the original sleeve and label artwork, has been mastered from the Creole tapes.
