Leonard Dillon & The Ethiopians

Image titleTo mark is sad passing on 28th September 2011, roots pioneer, Leonard ‘Sparrow’ Dillon, the group that he both founded and led are this week’s Trojan Artist Of The Week.

Led by the enigmatic Dillon, the Ethiopians. made their recording debut for Coxson Dodd‘s Studio One Records in the mid-sixties before achieving international success with the hugely popular 7″ single, ‘Train To Skaville’.

Numerous major Jamaican hits ensued, most notably with producer Karl ‘J.J.’ Johnson, but the tragic death of group member Stephen Taylor in 1975 brought about their career to an abrupt end.
